The new Tradies in Paradise is set to incentivise tradies and building industry professionals to relocate to QLD!

The Queensland Government “Tradies in Paradise incentive scheme” is set to target qualified tradespeople and building industry professionals from interstate (except NSW) to relocate to eligible Queensland locations that have been flood impacted (except NSW). These locations were selected on the basis of the need for flood reconstruction as a result of the 2022 floods.

Eligible locations range from Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba Regional Council, Noosa Shire Council, Fraser Coast Regional Council and more!

The applicants must have secured work with an eligible QLD employer or business, such as a builder or subcontractor, and then undertake 8 weeks of continuous work (with a minimum of 20 hours per week) on flood reconstruction. Each applicant is able to work as an employee or subcontractor including sole traders.

Eligible occupations for the scheme include Carpenters, Electricians, Gas Fitters, Plumbers, Tilers and more.

The scheme is able to provide incentives of up to $1750 for 1000 eligible tradespeople. The incentive is comprised of 2 components:

  • a relocation incentive payment of $1,500 (excluding GST)
  • a payment of a maximum of $250 (excluding GST) to reimburse travel costs.

The incentive payment will be made as a one-off installment, once eligibility has been confirmed. You are only eligible for 1 incentive payment under the scheme.
